max boardingBelieve it or not, the holidays are quickly approaching and  here at Golden Cockatoo, we are already getting many reservations for boarding at the worlds famous “Parrot Palace.” Don’t leave this little “to do item” to the last minute or you may not find any “room at the inn,” (sorry I couldn’t resist).

Remember – in order to board your bird at Golden Cockatoo you MUST have had a psittacosis test within the last year (proof required).  A vet exam is not necessary.  Why the psittacosis test?  We are protecting YOUR bird as well as all the others within our care.  Psittacosis, or “parrot fever” is an infectious disease that is transmitted through an infected birds feces or feathers, and can lay dormant in a bird for years, until the bird undergoes stress.  We are vigilant in our efforts to maintain a premium environment for all birds under our care.  That is our commitment to you and to your bird! We can perform the psittacosis testing for you, the fee is $44.99 and keep in mind it does take approximately 10  business days for us to receive the results.  If testing is done in conjunction with your birds grooming you will receive a $5 discount!

For boarding – reservations are required,  and honored in the order in which they are received.  To reserve a cage (room) during the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas a $10 deposit is required to hold your “room” and that credit will be applied to your bill when you pick up your pal.  In the past many people have made their reservations, we have then set-up the cage, and when they are a no show it results in  other people being turned away that did not have to be.  We understand that plans can change and will gladly refund your deposit as long as your reservation is canceled two days or more in advance – this gives us the opportunity to call someone who is on the waiting list.  All deposits will be forfeited for no shows during both Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks.

We provide excellent care while your feathered friend rooms with us.  Daily they will receive 2 feedings/watering, clean cage and fresh paper bedding, & experienced staff interaction with your parrot throughout the day.  Your parrots favorite treats or toys should be labeled and brought or bought at the time of drop off. We cater to our clients with special needs (fees may apply)…and we will leave “peanuts on their pillow,” if that’s what it takes to keep your pet happy while you are away!
